Set of three essential tools for making the perfect matcha
The matcha whisk, also known as a Chasen in Japanese, is the proper tool to mix your matcha the traditional way. The bamboo tool is used in Japanese tea ceremony to properly blend the fine matcha powder and hot water into a smooth and frothy mixture.
In addition to the whisk, traditional matcha ceremony uses a bamboo spoon to accurately portion the quantity of matcha to use, and unlike a metal spoon, it doesn't leave any residue matcha on it.
Finally, a strainer (filter, sieve, sifter) is highly recommended when working with matcha in order to minimize clumps. The lumps are inevitable even in a high quality matcha and will ruin your matcha experience if not eliminated before adding water, no matter how much time you spend whisking. By sifting the powder before mixing it, the taste and drinking experience will be improved, but it will also save you money, since the clumps contain highly concentrated matcha that you could have saved for the next drink.
